According to an official tweet by Warfare Plugins, a Zero-Day Exploit has been found in the Social Warfare plugin. This means the exploit is being used and abused by hackers before Warfare Plugins was aware of it.
Our development team has submitted Social Warfare V3.5.3 to the WordPress update-repository, which addresses this vulnerability and undoes any changes it makes. Please log-in to your WordPress dashboard and apply this update as soon as possible.— Warfare Plugins (@warfareplugins) March 21, 2019
They are advising users to immmediately deactivate their Social Warfare plugin and immediately. Others like Casey Markee have advised switching from the Social Warfare plugin to another one. There are plenty of other WordPress plugins to choose from for your social media sharing needs.
WE ARE AWARE OF A ZERO-DAY EXPLOIT AFFECTING SOCIAL WARFARE CURRENTLY BEING TAKEN ADVANTAGE OF IN THE WILD. Our developers are working to release a patch within the next hour. Unfortunately, this is the last straw! I UNEQUIVOCALLY recommend that all Food, Lifestyle and DIY bloggers migrate over to Social Pug. They have a seamless migrator to move all settings & pins.
